You can charter the Swift Stream for your own private
rail car trip. The Swift Stream can go virtually anywhere Amtrak goes.
We can also arrange trips on some freight-only lines, although the cost
may be higher and some lines may not be available. The Swift Stream is
based in St Louis, Missouri. It is a short trip from there to Chicago,
which gives you easy access to a large number of Amtrak routes. Some popular
trips include:
Kansas City, MO - A great trip if your time or budget
is limited. Board the Swift Stream in St Louis for one of Amtrak's two
daily trips to Kansas City. The ride lasts just under six hours. Stay
as long as you like in Kansas City before returning to St Louis - overnight,
a weekend, or several days. We can even make the round trip in a single
day, if your time is limited and you just want to experience the ride.
While in Kansas City, you can sleep on board the car at night, parked
downtown at the beautifully restored Union Station. We can serve any meals
you want on board, or you can go out to sample the city's restaurants.
New Orleans, LA - Enjoy a few days in the "Crescent
City." Board the Swift Stream in Chicago in the evening, and during
the night the car will travel south on the famous City of New Orleans.
We'll travel through delta farmland and bayou country all through the
next morning, enjoying breakfast and lunch on board. Mid-afternoon we
arrive at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. While in New Orleans,
use the car as a hotel parked right in the station, adjacent to the Superdome.
If you like, we can serve meals on board, or you can go out to eat at
some of the great restaurants of New Orleans. The return trip departs
in the afternoon. We'll enjoy dinner on board, as well as breakfast the
following morning. Shortly after breakfast we arrive back in Chicago.
Oklahoma City, OK - An interesting trip through the south
central plains. Board the Swift Stream in St Louis for an evening departure
on Amtrak's Texas Eagle. Enjoy breakfast and lunch the next day as we
travel west through the Texas countryside. We arrive in Fort Worth in
the afternoon, where our car is switched onto the Amtrak Heartland Flyer.
We'll depart late in the afternoon and enjoy dinner on board, with a late
evening arrival in Oklahoma City. Use the Swift Stream as your hotel while
parked at the historic Santa Fe station in downtown Oklahoma City - immediately
adjacent to the Bricktown entertainment district. The return trip departs
Oklahoma City in the morning, switches again in Fort Worth, and arrives
in St Louis the next morning, where you may depart at your convenience.
Los Angeles, CA - Travel across the American Southwest
along the route of Amtrak's historic Sunset Limited. Board the Swift Stream
on Thursday evening in St Louis, where we will be added to the west bound
train. All day Friday and Saturday we'll enjoy wide-open views of the
Texas plains. Sleep through parts of New Mexico and Arizona, and Sunday
morning we'll be in California. Enjoy breakfast and lunch on board, with
a late morning Sunday arrival in Los Angeles. Spend a few days in Los
Angeles, with the Swift Stream parked at Union Station as your hotel.
Friday afternoon we'll depart eastbound, with arrival back in St Louis
on Monday morning. Shorter or longer trips are also available, if these
days don't fit your schedule.
Other Destinations - The Swift Stream can go virtually
anywhere in the country that Amtrak goes, and some places Amtrak doesn't
go! Let us know where you want to travel and we can work out a custom
itenerary for you. At most major Amtrak terminals, the Swift Stream can
be parked right in the train station and you can stay on board the car.
We serve full meals on board, as well as beverages and snacks, and can
accomodate any menu you want. Costs vary, depending on the trip - usually
between $2,000 and $4,000 per day. When you divide the cost among several
people, it's surprisingly inexpensive for such a unique vacation. We are
happy to give you an exact quote for any specific trip you want - just
